So recently I thought it would be a cool idea to raise some quail to pass the time while im in college. I made my own incubator out of a wooden box that i made insulated with some board insulation, a 100w light bulb, computer fan and a water heater thermostat. I ran the incubator for about a week before i got the eggs and it holds the temp between 99.5 and 100.5 according to my 2 baby thermometers and holds at 97 with my digital one from the pet store. Humidity ranges from 45% to 60%. 6 days ago I put 48 Jumbo Brown Couturnix in the incubator and now im on day 6 and wondering if i should start to see anything when i candle them? I have done about 10 eggs now and I can see that about half the shell is darker and the other half allows more light to pass through. On some eggs i see the same thing but the darker spot is lighter. Ive read that you should start to see veins by day 7 but im not really seeing any at the moment. If anyone has any experience in candling quail eggs could you help me out?
Thanks for the help,
