New to Quail, Quick Question

I ordered a similar batch from Southwest Gamebirds because I wanted to improve my genetic variety. If you linebreed quail too much, I hear that they increasingly lose fertility and vigor. Rather than just continue breeding offspring of the original batch, I wanted to add some new genes. But I do hope I don't lose the feather sexing! I guess I would still find out when the boys start crowing and fighting. ;)
I think it has to be quite a few lines before anything bad happens, I believe I've had four lines and there were no signs of any deformities or decreased fertility. Not researched it though honestly.
