new to quail

I'm new to quail.

Picked up 29 jmf meat maker xl quail.
Got 15 females 14 males. 5 weeks old.

I have them housed in an extra large rabbit hutch and 3x3 rabbit pens. Inside of a large shed with doors open.

I have 1 male to 5 females in each pen.

The remainder of males are in the 3x3 pen to finish out.

Feeding them 28 percent game bird starter. Same as I feed my baby turkeys.

Got my first eggs today. Sooo cool.

I have turkeys and chickens in a large seperate run. So no mingling.

I've had them about 5 days but so far they are awesome.

I have 17 of them at 9 days old now, they are developing so fast. I have them on a bed of finely shifted mulch instead of wire. So cool to see a 4 day old coturnix dust bathing, even better when a dozen do it at once.

How did you luck into juvenile JMF cots?

Gentleman said he hatched better than expected. Sold off his extas that he didn't want to butcher and his breeder pens were full.

Got lucky.
