Greetings from Montana,
I am an old "chick" (72) and this is my first experience with quail, for that matter with any of the poultry family.
Have had some bad experience so far. My first try was with a home-made incubator and our electric went out for nearly six hours, no hatch.
Second try, I ordered an incubator, and thought I was doing okay with it, until this morning. One little quail hatched, and "fell" under the plastic hatching mat...I panicked and loosened screws and got him out, but in doing so had to move the other eggs. I warmed a towel and put them on it, while I was rescuing the little guy, but now I am scared that I really messed up and the remaining eggs will not hatch.
Is there anyone out there in "quail world" that can give me any reassuring words? Thank you.

Hello there and welcome to BYC! :frow

First hatches are always one big learning lesson. I used to hatch Bobwhite quail and yes, quail are not easy to hatch!

I am going to move this thread over to our Quail section where lots of members hatch and can help you further.

Good luck with all your hatching adventures! :)

We are glad you joined our flock!
I would not worry too much about the eggs being out of the incubator for a short period of time...this late in the game it should not make a difference.
How many eggs did you set?
Have you been candling the eggs throughout the incubation to make sure they were developing?

If you didn't have the eggs out of the bator for too long and there were no others that had pipped, they should be ok, as long as the temp is back up to where it should be and the humidity has recovered. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
