Hi Backyard Chickeners!

I had a pair of backyard chickens at my old home, but moved into a city that doesn't allow them. They do, however, allow flocks of quail, so I'm currently making preparations to build a quail coop, and I'm picking up my flock (10 female coturnix quail) in 6 weeks.

I live in southern Ontario, so anyone who has any advice or information on quail-keeping in a colder climate, please send me your advice! I would like my flock to thrive happily, despite our cold winters. (I will obviously be constructing an insulated coop to protect them from the cold during the winter months, which will be equipped with a heat lamp).
I'm considering adding in a hen or two once my neighbours have warmed up to the idea of me having a small backyard quail flock. (chickens are prohibited birds in my city, but the city only enforces this if there is a complaint).

Any suggestions, advice, etc will be very much appreciated. I look forward to perusing through this forum!

Tessa :)
