Welcome to BackYard Chickens. And a Big Hello from Eastern Nebraska! I would think the Temp. In the Car was warmer than outside temperature. Also If the box had a top on It no air flow ? After 8 Hour's they most likely went bad.

I wouldn't eat either of them. They just weren't processed correctly.

Sounds like they weren't processed properly after the kill. One needs to get on with the processing of the body/flesh and get it into the frig or freezer. If you didn't drain the blood soon after killing, this could cause the skin to turn grey. Even so, I suggest you not eat it just in case.

Welcome to BYC. I doubt that the stay in the car caused the discoloration, but I would be reluctant to eat either bird.
