New to raising chickens and look to start off with some Silkies.

I am interested in raising some Silkie chickens but I am having trouble locating a dealer in the Tucson, AZ area. Does anyone in here have any contacts or suggestions on where to look for some?

Just know that silkies are extremely difficult to sex before 4-5 mos. of age and sometimes not till they lay or crow. If you buy young chicks, you are likely to get more cockerels than pullets. My friend has silkies and seramas but, she ordered all of them from breeders online., and they were shipped to her. When you have 20 posts you can participate in the BYC Buy, sell, trade forum. Good luck finding the silkies you want.

Thanks for the info! I was wondering why I wasn't able to find a "Post New Thread" link in the Buy, Sell, Trade forum. I'm actually only interested in chickens as pets/companions. Any eggsI get from them will be lagniappe and have no intentions of breeding.
