Hi everyone, hope you are having chickfastic day. I am new to having chickens. I bought 3 chicks when they were about 3-4 weeks old (late March 2019). I just asked for layers when I bought them. Now I am wondering if they are all female. One has a bright red crown, while the other 2 do not. Can anyone tell me what breed or sex they are?

Thanks

They look like production reds to me. High yield eggs, loads of reproductive disorders down the road. So, they were about a month old last March... it's August... so they're pushing 6 months and nobody's crowed, right? Looks like three pullets to me, and the brightest red comb should be your first layer. I'd guess you should be seeing eggs within a month or so, if after 2 months and no eggs, then you can start worrying. Keep your eye out for dirty butt feathers as that could indicate a problem. And if you can't decide who laid the first egg, you can check the vent... wet vent = laying.
