Hello there! My husband and I own a farm to table restaurant in upstate NY. We are very passionate about keeping our food local, and healthy. In the two years that our restaurant has been open, we have made many great relationships with many of our local farmers. We have learned that raising your own backyard chickens can be fairly easy, and extremely beneficial. About 3 weeks ago, we purchased 10 chickens from a local 4H fundraiser. We got an easter egger, australorpes, barnevelder, black orpingtons, and lavendar orpingtons. 10 all together. They are currently still in a large brooder in our garage, while my husband finishes the plans and building the coop. We are very excited about this venture, as we also have a little girl who will be turning one at the end of the month. I think it will be a great learning experience for her, as well as fun. I think it's wonderful that there is a site like this to find support, share stories, and ask questions. Thanks! -Tracey
