Iv been ordering all my supplies from chewy. I hope the dating has been ok.

I buy Kalmbach's chick starter, flock maker, HHR, and layer crumbles from Chewy and only noted once on a 50# bag of starter that we had a month to use it. We usually have a lot of chicks hatching around here, so we did well.

I'm soon switching over to doing this like others do successfully and ditching the layer feed to go with their flock maker (all flock) for the chicks, and for adults, that plus a side of oyster shell.

Kalmbach Feeds All Natural Hi Omega 17% Protein Layer Pellets Chicken Feed​

Would I still need to offer my girls oyster shells on the side?
One of the breeds I have should be about to lay in the next couple weeks. New Hampshire red. But the other breeds take about 16-20 weeks before they lay. Is it ok to put them all on layer feed already. All my girls are about 12 weeks or 11 weeks

We always have a dish out there for them just in case. If they need it, they eat it; if they don't, they won't. A couple of hens are always eating it, and some hens I've never seen eat any.
