Hi, I am Sandy and live in Williamsburg, KY. I am a retired teacher and raising my nonverbal and developmentally delayed grandson. He is 8yrs. old. I have lived on a small farm for about 19 yrs. I have two horses now. (Tennessee Walkers) There are two cats in the barn that are great mousers, and 5 German shepherds that think their job is to barks all day at the cats, and dig gigantic holes in the yard. I don't mind, they seem to enjoy it and I just fill them back up eventually. I just purchased 20 chicks, 19 Rhode Island Reds and 1 Leghorn. I have them in my bedroom, where they are safe from the kid and dogs. Did I mention that the dogs stay in the house during cold, bad, or nasty weather and every single night. I am in the process of finishing up the hen house and then onto the pen. We have a lot of critters here since I live right next to the Daniel Boone Forest. Taking precautions to protect my flock. I have done a lot of research and still feel like I have a lot to learn. I have about three weeks until they are ready for their new home. A friend told me about BYC and I knew this is where I needed to be. I want to do my very best for my feathered friends. I am spoiling them already. I talk to them a lot and gently stroke them when they walk into the palm of my hand. I love animals and already named three of them. thanks for letting me join this group.
