Hello!
I’m a noob to raising chickens but I’ve always wanted to have my own little flock for eggs.
I currently have 4 1 month old Ameraucanas (3 white splash and 1 wheaten) and 1 3 week old black australorp. They’re still inside but I’m hoping to transition them to their outside coop next week.
I have an enclosed backyard space for them to roam around so I think that will be nice.
I’m (not so) patiently waiting to see if I have a roo in the mix. I’m leaning towards keeping him if he’s not too noisy but they are illegal in my city 😬
I’ve been having a lot of fun figuring out next steps as I go. Especially alternative/easier ways to do things. Like I’m a big fan of the vertical water nipples and have a modified soup container in my brooder right now with some installed.
I also didn’t know chicks are dusty AF 😂

I’ve been lurking the backyard chickens site for a while so I’m excited to maybe post a few questions/photos and continue to learn!

Welcome to BYC🎉 you have some really cute chickens/chicks🤩

What sweet babies! Bet they enjoyed their field trip.

Ah, yes, no one seems to tell you that "chicks are dusty." But after raising countless babies in an upstairs bedroom brooder, I can attest to the incredible amount of dust created by tiny birds.

Glad that lurking for a while showed you how worthwhile it is to become a member of this community. Welcome to BYC!
