Yes, golden comets and sex links are the same thing... I've got those - the eggs started off pretty small, I suppose all young pullets take a while to get into the swing of things, but they get bigger.
We had a precious, enormous hen who laid weeny little eggs, but that's not very common and she was a hoot so we didn't really care anyway.
I've never heard of barred leghorns. Seems I might've learned of a new breed! Haha
