Hi everyone, about 6 weeks ago my boyfriend and I got some chicks from a local supply store. We have 3 Rhode Island Reds, and 3 Silver Laced Wyandottes. We were contacted by a family member who was trying to help a friend rehome her 5 chickens. When my boyfriend went to get them he said their living conditions were horrible. We don't know how they were taken care of at all. I'm a little worried if their eggs might be safe to feed to my family or what I should do. They seem happier here, but I'm also still worried about introducing them to the younger ones. Any help, or advise would be greatly appreciated!
It is probably too late now but, they should have been quarantined away from the rest of your birds for at least a month. I would imagine them to have worms, mites, lice, possible diseases that would decimate your own birds.
