I am new to raising chickens, my parents have had them and I feel in love with them and had to get my own. We are in town but have about .25 acre so they will have a good size coop and run. I have introduced my dog to them and so far she couldnt care less, she has sniffed them and then just walked away. I am hoping they will become buddies. My almost 5 year old is doing incredibly well with them also, i think it will be a wonderful experience for the whole family. I am planning to have them be spoiled and loved like any other pet! I am so in love with my new girls, here they are....

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Cute little flock!

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! You have some cute chicks there how adorable :love Raising chickens really is a hobby the whole family can enjoy and there is nothing like children's faces when they find an egg in the nest box :ep

Be sure to ask any questions that you may have, the forum has a section for all aspects of chicken keeping.
Enjoy BYC and your new babies :frow

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join our flock. Raising chickens is a wonderful experience for children. My granddaughter (pictured in my avatar) loves our chickens. Be very careful with your dog around the chickens as dogs and chickens typically don't mix well. We get lots of letters from new members who are shocked and horrified because their seemingly benign dog (even small ones like chihuahuas) suddenly and unexpectedly decided to chase and kill their chickens. And once a dog has killed a chicken, it's next to impossible to break them from doing it again. Dogs seem to either view chickens as prey, or else as chew toys. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your chicks.
