Taping chicks toes is usually done in the first day or so as the bones haven't set properly yet. Unfortunately by the time the chick is 4 weeks old the bones have already become rigid and set into place. I don't know if taping them would have any effect, if you were to tape their toes you would have to do it over a long period of time to gradually reshape the bone growth.

I have a silkie pullet whose left foot has some folded toes. The breeder told me he didn't notice this and let us take her for free when we purchased our black silkie. My hubby fell in love and said sure. We have had her for a week now and she gets around just fine. She is about 5 weeks old.
