New to raising quail and to this board

I’m going to enclose the top of the dog kennel with chain link so that should help. I’ll make it a fortress
Good plan :thumbsup
My neighbors have started feeding these pesky things. I’ve had quite the hassle trying to keep them at bay.

Omg... Who feeds coons??? Lol. I would never imagine someone actually feeding them intentionally...
They are idiotic people. I’ve told them I’ve lost birds because of this and they seemed pretty uncaring. But when hubby let slip that we eat any extra males they were outraged.
But yeah. The spilled garbage and odd bird getting pulled through hardware mesh is frustrating. These coons aren’t afraid of my dog now either. And he won’t chase if they don’t run. :he

I raise cortunix quail and mine are in a rabbit hutch and my redbone is close by the bird pens as I have all different types of birds I am glad my Ruby redbone keeps everything at a distance she is a great alarm for anything off in the woods of Missouri.....

My dog is quite the couch potato to be fair. Definitely not bread to work or defend. He’s just a cuddle bug.

I am sorry.... I would invest in a live trap and pour bleach on the food because coons not only carry rabies they carry many other diseases and if they are coming out in daylight it is safe to assume they are rabid

The photo was rather bright for the time of day. I don’t think they are actually rabid but I do plan on putting traps out. I’m also looking into electric fencing. And I think the next step is to double up the hardware cloth on the lower foot or so of the aviary.

Our problem here other than the coyotes and bobcats is javalina. Very destructive and mean and they smell worse than a skunk. I’m in the process of putting up a electric fence to keep them off the patio ugh!
