We were adopted by 2 hens about 2 years ago unfortunately 1 passed away about year later. We don’t know what had happened to her we still have one lil red is her name. She is going strong we bought 7 chicks due to arrive in mid and late September. In the mean time we purchased 2 Speckled Sussex's They are about 10 weeks old. We are wondering when is a good time to release then to with lil red, they live together but we made a separation between them In the coop. Any information would be great

thanks in advance

Hi, congrats on the increase in your flock. In addition to the other comments about integration, you can make places for the smaller girls to get away from the larger girl. And set out an additional waterer and feeder so she can't block the littles from food & water.

Best wishes!

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
If you have a very large run or free-range them let out the 10-week olds first and let them learn the lay of the land, and then let out Lil Red.
Thanks for the advice we have and 8x10 shed for the coop and we made a 4x4x6 intermediate transition run. Which they been in there for about 3 weeks to month. Do mean let chile and cocoa Out and for how long before we let lil red out
thanks km
