With the show season fast upon us, would anyone please be willing to tell me what goes on at a dove/pigeon show, and what we do as exhibitors? I am not new to livestock showing, and grew up through the local 4-H programs, showing many animals suck as dogs, cats(Now a massachusetts judge), rabbits and cavies, but I have never shown a bird. Are there "runners" who place the birds in the show pens?

Thanks for any and all advise.

depends on what type of show you are talking about. there are pigeon fancier shows. there there are pigeon poultry shows. the fancy shows break them down into classes and varieties where most of the poultry ones only go by breed. Ive never been to a fancy show, so thats about all I know about them. but I do know that sometimes they are judges in their own cages at the poultry ones. but some of them also have runners take them up to the show cages.

Awesome,
I've shown rabbits in the past, and have had runners help me, but an totally new to birds. This year i plan on attending two pigeon/dove only shows. One being Faircount, and the other being Sturbridge Pigeon show. My best assumptions are that they'd be run similar to a rabbit show, except for pigeons instead of rabbits. LOL! Thanks for your input.
