This is my first time that I will be showing any chickens, I'm also fairly new to chickens in general. What do I need to know? Is there anything special I need to feed them? Anything they should be trained to do? Is there some things that the judges will not like that I should be aware of? The breeds I'm showing are leghorns, Rhode Island red, and black cochin bantam.

I show standard black chochins, and I’ve found that feeding them sunflowers really helps their feathers shine (keep in mind to not feed white birds corn or else it could change their pigment)also, if you purchase a silk cloth and wipe them down it really brings out the feather quality. Showing birds can be pretty complicated at times. You will think you have a great bird, and then judges tell you other wise. It’s really a learning process and takes time. Good luck it’s definitely a fun thing to do.

Also when you say showing chickens do you mean Showmanship or breed judging. If it’s Showmanship their are certain things you need to train your chickens to do.
