Hello everyone! In five days from now, I’ll be starting over on rebuilding my new flock from what I’ve lost. I’ve raised many different breeds of chickens, but I have not ever raised Polish, Silkies or bantams of any kind from young young chicks. I wanted to ask, how different are they compared to normal full sized breeds? I’ve noticed that they’re prone to vitamin deficiencies easily, so would it be beneficial for me to give them vitamins with probiotics? Or vitamins with electrolytes?

Polish are just as cuddly, inquisitive, kind, and hungry, as normal chickens (if not more cuddly). Silkies on the other hand are skittish, broody, mother wanna be’s, and not in need of any kind of affection. They are very different. I have never had any trouble between them. I don’t give my bantams extra vitamins or anything like that (unless they need them). I give my bantams a large variety of snacks. And free range seed. It has everything they need, including shells.

I currently have my broody silkie hen day on polish eggs so I’m interested to hear that chookchicken says they are cuddly as my friend that breeds them says they are very flighty, my silkies on the other hand are extremely friendly love a cuddle, a bath and blow dry and are completely non flighty. Silkies are my total favourite of all chicken breeds. But am excited to hopefully have polish. Best of luck with your new chicks x
