I have silkie question. I have just hatched out some silkies. I thought I had 5 but it is 4, one that I thought was a silkie was one of my Delawares. So back to my question.

I was told that these were white silkies. They have feathered legs, black skin, but some of them look like they have a little brown in there fluff instead of all yellow that I would expect for a white bird. Do they sometimes have brown that spills through?

Well without a picture I'm not sure what you mean. But sometimes Silkies do hatch a strange color, not at all the YELLOW you see in other White birds.
They need to have 5 toes on each foot besides the Black skin and feathered legs and usually show a crest or vaulted skull.
Send pics when you can.

Here is a Paint baby that hatched a few days ago, this is not an unusual color for a White Silkie to be when hatched, MINUS the spots
Is you chick this color...??

Nice Silkie baby...I still think they are Whites. Some Whites are born yellow like other White birds, and those usually end up being the really bright White, maybe some else has another opinion but right now I say White.
You will be able to tell real soon, the wing feathers will come in in a few days.
Sorry I can't be more help.
Cheryl
