hey everyone. new to this site but not to raising poultry. i have about 50 laying hens of various breeds, about 70 guineas for organic insect control, and a trio of Chinese geese( 2 brown females and a white male). live on 28 acres northwest of Houston Texas. also have cows, a horse, 2 donkeys, 3 dogs, and a cat. love the country life and all the animals. right now have a hen sitting on Guinea eggs( like i need more..lol), and am trying to get my geese to go broody...no luck so far cause the male freaks out whenever both the girls will not go to bed where he wants them....screams till they leave the nest. i keep rotating out eggs cause they lay so many. leaving only 6 in nest. this will be my third summer to try...one sat for a while last year then quit the nest. will keep trying...would like to move nest box to where male likes to sleep but not sure if females will continue to lay in box if moved. any ideas? strange having such poor luck with the geese cause everyone comes to me on guineas since i have such great hatching and survival with them......i kinda get more broody than the hen when it comes to baby guineas...lol. hope everyone has a nice Memorial Day! Paul

Lots of wonderful folks (and a few horse's patoots) hang out here! It's like a big, friendly online family gathering.
