New to the Backyard Chickens.

Hi! I'm Chickygal01. I have a small amount of chicken experience... I wish to learn more about chickens and how to take care of them. My favorites so far are Silky Bantams and Bahamas. Though I am concerned I will not be able to provide a good environment for any chicken I get... I live in a generally swampy area.. Where snakes, hawks, and coyotes are common. I have two Blue heelers, one male and female. The male is super dominant and can be real aggressive to other animals sometimes. My family says we are going to build a chicken coop but I'm hesitant on that. Any advice for me?
