Hi all. I'm really new to raising and keeping chickens but so far I'm really enjoying it. Currently we have 4 Ameraucanas, 3 Barred Rocks (one is our rooster), 2 Rhode Island reds, and a mix of 3 day old chicks(bantams, giant cochins, speckled sussex). I had no idea how much personality a chicken could have. I swear they are like my kids lol. I hope everyone is having as much fun with their chicks as we are.

Welcome! They are so fun, I don't think people realize how fun until they become chicken owners! I have 5 1-year olds, one is a very good rooster, and I have 3 5-wk olds which I will probably integrate when they are almost the same size as my pullets. They are our kids too! Have fun!

You'll find lots of info in the Learning Centre (even if you have lots of experience)

So far they are doing well with each other. Most the time you'll find a bantam sleeping on the cochins back.

Welcome to BYC! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

Sounds like you have some lovely breeds! I have a speckled sussex as well. I really like her personality and colors as I'm sure you do as well with yours.

My speckled Sussex are only a week old so I've got a bit to wait for their beautiful colors but I'm excited about it already. My oldest chickens are 7 weeks old. I'm pretty sure I've got two rosters, one is a barred rock and the other is ameraucana. The barred rock we're calling Christopher Sqwalken and he's such a sweet boy.
