New to the Chicken raising community

Hi, I began my chicken endeavor a week ago with 10 chicks, 5 different breeds.
I retired from my job in Clemson, SC. to return to the farm in Connecticut to supervise elderly parents.
I’m a farm girl at heart, and have always wanted to raise chickens. I would eventually like to breed and raise one breed.
I’m a huge fan of horses and inside cats, I currently have 3.
While reading and researching I happily came across Backyardchickens! I love learning others tried and true ways of raising chickens.
Keep posting, because I’ll be looking for new reads.
