Hello! I am a newbie to all this chicken stuff. Look forward to learning a lot from all of you. I have 3 Leghorns and 4 ISA that are about 4 weeks. Getting coop ready today. I am paranoid about predators. My friend lost all 12 of her babies in 4 days. Any suggestions? We have started the bottom portion where the coop will go. Buried hardware cloth and laid walking stones on top. We are going with the sand method. We're going to lay stones around the outside in the hardware cloth as well. Is this a good start?

Welcome!

As you have already received links to some good starting points, I will just wish you all the best.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out
