Hi all. I am new to the chicken world. I have 5 hens. 2 Ameraucana's, 1 Isa Brown, 1 Light Brahma and 1 Black Australorp. We call them the Spice Girls. We purchased them the second week in April. Our Isa Brown just started laying eggs. Unfortunately they are not free range because we have dogs. I do have a pen that is about 21'x14' for them to run in and a coop inside of that for night time.
We have 1 Ameraucana that has been acting "weird" for the last 2 days. She is fine during the morning and afternoon but then when evening comes she stops foraging (like the rest of the hens). She will either lay down with her eyes closed or last night she stood with her head tucked under her feathers. Should I be concerned? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I am so excited about this new adventure and love watching them.

Hi and welcome to BYC - thanks for joining us. I’m not sure about the behaviour of your bird, but this fine chap will help you, I’ve no doubt - @sourland ?

More generally, on this link you'll find lots of information on almost every aspect of keeping birds - from coop building ideas, to incubating eggs - https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/

There’s a link on the page above to the Learning Centre - it’s a great resource. If you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

Each week, various topics are discussed, which can also be a great resource - https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/topic-of-the-week-thread-archives

This is a useful link of BYC guides to take a look at - https://www.backyardchickens.com/forums/website-announcements-feedback-issues-guides.3/?prefix_id=3
