Hello, I'm Maria and I am a new chicken owner and hope to learn more from this forum.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? We just got our first chickens in March.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We started out with 12 layers and they are now in what I would say is there teen age years lol. They have grown so much from the little puff balls they were 2 months ago. We just got 26 Cornish rock chicks this past weekend unfortunately 6 of them died within the first day of having them, I was so sad. I ordered them online and they were suppose to arrive within 2-3 days but it took 5 days for them to arrive so I blame the postal service for my loss. But its been almost a week now since getting them and the remaining 20 are doing very well. We decided to go to Tractor Supply and pick up some replacements and asked if they would be getting more Cornish rocks in since the bin was empty where they should have been and the man said they have some and pointed out some birds in another bin that had no identification sign on it (my husband and I had already looked at these birds and did not think they were chickens) but if the guys that works there says these are Cornish rocks who am I to say different since he works there and I'm new to this. So anyway we have these 10 birds that we bought thinking they were chickens but we really dont think they are chickens at all so I am really hoping someone on here can help me out and tell me if they are indeed chickens or if they are turkeys as we suspect they are.

(3) What breeds do you have? Not real sure what kind of laying birds we have think some are brahmas, maybe some Americanas and for sure some Rhoade island reds. Our meat birds are Cornish rocks

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? Having fresh eggs and meat

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Jewelry making

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to
share.
my family is just me and my husband now, 3 kids are all grown and on their own. We do have our baby, a 1 and half year old pit bull named Sadie who is spoiled rotten and loves attention and cuddling.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D
I found BYC through the search engine while looking for answers on what kind of birds TSC sold me. I joined in hopes of learning as much as I can about raising chickens.
