Hello,

We, the little wifey and I, live in Hazel Green, Alabama.... I found this website last year and have been lurking ever since. I am interested in constructing a coop. I am thinking about using a variation of the Wichita Cabin-Coop, since I am originally from Wichita.....

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Yes, although the little wifey has wanted some for years. She picked up a rooster on Craigslist and viola.... now we need a chicken coop.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 1 rooster

(3) What breeds do you have? Don't really know. It is black and the roughest 2 pound rooster in N. Alabama.... Would like to get a Rhode Island Red or two but the little wifey thinks we need Americana's so we can get the colored eggs for the grandchildren....

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? I did a search on Yahoo

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Playing with the grandchildren, riding my GoldWing, gardening and golf.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. Married, 2 grown children, 4 grandchildren.... a couple of dogs, 1 Boxer and 1 special needs French Bulldog. Several fish in the fish pond and 1 (3) legged turtle. I have work for Boeing the past 28+ years. Move every now and then for the company but hope to retire in Alabama.

I am sure to have many questions.

,

DS and family live in Millbrook. Don't have chickens though.

I have some from Chapel Farms a little north of there. RIR's too. She's super nice and you should contact her. She does have silkies so she's pixilated. (the pixies got her).

I wish you the best and happiest chicken keeping.
