Hi all,

I live in the Willamette Valley in Oregon and got my first chicks about three months ago. Honestly, buying eggs is much cheaper BUT not nearly as fun!!! Right now I'm trying to determine if one of my chicks is really a rooster.

I've got a very large backyard so I've been working to increase the yield from my property by getting chicks and increasing my garden.

I am about to launch my food truck - FRESH - which specializes in fresh, local and seasonal food. And in my spare time I write romantic suspense.

Life is good!

Hello and welcome....so glad you joined BYC

That does look like a rooster to me. I think that coloring on the wings is common for red sex links altho others here may be able to advise you better. You also might post this pic in the "what breed/gender" section for other opinions.

Good luck to you

You've got a Sexlink cockerel!

That seems to be the consensus. My neighbors on either side, who both have chickens, keep telling me that I don't want a male but I'm already attached to him. Any suggestions on ways to keep the little guy quiet in the mornings?
