You've come to a good place. Many people here have plenty of hatching experiences. Now out of curiosity, what incubator are you using? Good luck with your new flock and have fun...

For this first batch, it seems to work well. I put in 12, all were fertile, I believe one terminated after I candled on day 12 and didn’t know until day 18. So far five are out of the eggs and I’m waiting on the rest to fully hatch. I bought a reptile thermometer and hygrometer to gauge humidity and make sure the machine matched another thermometer. I also never opened it unless I was candling or when I thought humidity was too low on day 19.

I used to candle around day 10 but now I wait until I put the eggs in the hatchers around day 18.

I did that with the one I think terminated. Maybe I will be surprised to but I’m fairly certain it stopped developing. I was still able to see through much of the egg.
