I was just reading a thread about trying to get the chickens into the coop....So, as a newbie...are you also supposed to have feed and water in the coop...I only have it outside...Two of are chicks are about ready to stay out permanently...They are 9 weeks....

I have water both places inside the coop & in their run. Their feeder is inside the coop. The feeder I built myself & its attached to the wall in the coop. Its better in the coop its protected from the weather. I don't want to move it back & forth due to weather

. Plus, during extreme cold weather the flock will be locked in the coop.

I keep dry feed in the coop, I kept water in the coop over the winter in case they were locked in all day but now that it's summer and they have access to the pond, I've taken it out. Although chickens don't eat when it's bedtime, my girls do go in early to pig out on feed and then retire for the night. I find it's easier and less wasteful than trying to keep food clean, dry and away from wild birds by keeping it in the coop.
