New to the Flock 🐣

Welcome to BYC. Good luck with your cochin! (I love my cochin boy
lol
Hiya, Brittany, and welcome to BYC! :frow Adorable photos! Thank you for sharing. Do you have a house chicken or is that one on your sofa just there for the photo shoot?
hi! I found him crossing the road one very hot summer day. Cars were almost running him over and you could tell his feet were hot. Anyways, i jumped out of my car and grabbed him. I tried to find his home and had no luck. So then I kept him inside for a while as I tried to find him a new home. I had no luck and now he is my rooster. I’m not allowed roosters in my area so I have to put him away every night in my guest house in a large cat carrier with a blankets over it. That way my neighbors won’t complain šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø lol.

Hello Brittany, and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
How old is your cross beak?
Scissors is 3.5 years old now. She is top dog on the pecking order, believe it or not. She is a gentle leader and only asserts her authority when absolutely necessary.
I got her as a tiny little chick. The feed store was going to cull her. I got a bullet blender and blended the chick food super fine and she did great! As an adult, she spends more time eating then others, but she is a great layer and the most affectionate chicken I have ever had. I did make a special feeder for her and I give her pellet and crumble as I’m not actually sure what is easier for her to eat, so she gets all the choices :)
If anyone has a split beak chick KEEP IT! :)

You are just so awesome. I have a hen that was going to be culled as well. I didn't get her earlier enough for her splay legs and curly toe paralysis to be fixed. She cannot eat or drink on her own. She is so wonderful.
