We are planning to rebuild our chicken coop this weekend, so I thought I would look for information about designs on line and found y'all. My welcome email suggested I introduce myself, so I am doing that here. I have already gathered lots of ideas, though still have at least one big question that I haven't found the answer for yet....but I will search.
We are doing an unusual project that we call San Mateo Ecovillage in suburbia about 18 miles south of San Francisco. We have been raising chickens here for about 8-10 years and previously had about five times as many on our property on Washington's Olympic Peninsula. We are rebuilding the coop, because right now it is on our fence line and our neighbor is complaining about the sounds of laying hens....we have no roosters. I think it is a wonderful sound, but .....
Just got through separating some of our honey from the beeswax. I took a computer break...but need to get back to the garden.
