Greetings. I joined this group as I recently picked up 15 pullets from a local feed store. I was told I was getting 3 each of 5 different varieties. The chicks are all about 2 weeks old, and their appearances are widely varied. They are residing in a tub brooder while I finish the coop\run they will call their home.

As far as the varieties, I was told there are 3 golden sexlinks, 3 gold laced wyandottes, 3 brahmas, 3 cochin and 3 araucanas. Now I am continuing my poultry education.

Wow, you have a lovely mix there! And sure a nice size flock. I think you'll find some great friendly advice and chicken fun here along your journey! We're glad you joined us!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join our flock. You have a nice mix of breeds. Golden Sex Link is one of a number of labels under which some hatcheries and feed stores market their Red Sex Links, and they are laying machines. You should get loads of eggs from those three girls. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your chicks.

Hi and welcome to BYC!

So glad you could join our community! Congratulations on your new pullets. Bringing home new chickens can be very exciting and addicting. Sounds like you have some excellent breeds! Sex-Links should be very good layers and the Cochins and Brahmas usually have extremely good temperaments. Wyandottes are my favorite breed, because of their docile personalities and good egg production. I've enjoyed my Easter Egger, too (which is probably what your Araucana is, since feed stores rarely sell true Araucanas).

Good luck with your chicks! I hope you enjoy raising them and being a part of BYC just as much as we have.
