New to the forum..? on raising chicks and keets(guinea's) together...

Hello all, I'm new to the forum world and to the world of chickens, my two young daughters and I are going to start raising a small flock, and by small I mean five, of Black Australorps and five Guinea Hens, although after the Guinea Hens feather out and I can tell the difference between male and female, we'll make our choice and only keep one or the other so we dont' have to worry about them having babies. I've done lots of research and have read the book "Raising Chickens for Dummies" and "Gardening w/ Guineas" but my question was if our Black Australorps would do well w/ a 24% protein food so that we could feed the chicks and keets the same food right from the beginning. Any suggestions would be great!

i have heard of people using gamebird starter on chicks with no ill effects. i have had guineas with chicks together i just fed Chick starter to them all and the guineas were fine. but this is just my personal experience. hopefully some others will chime in.
