Do you like the States or Britain better?

I must say that there are good and bad things to say about any Country.We are a relatively small Island compared to you, hence I find it more expensive here to live than in the States, but there is still a lot of diversity, from large towns to beautiful rolling countryside especially in the areas away from London that unfortunately a lot of visitors do not see due to time restrictions. I have visited different States and due to your Countrys size find them unique from each other. I have stayed in peoples homes and enjoyed my trips immensely . My house here is three bedroomed one bathroom but in most States, for what it costs to buy here I could afford a very large property indeed!! We still do not really see ourselves as part of Europe as we feel that we have our own identity as everyone else has of course, however there are lots of opportunities to travel the great Cities of Europe thanks to budget airlines. I went to Salzburg, Austria last Christmas and paid 20 dollars round trip! If anyone is ever in my kneck of the woods please feel free to get in touch.

Have you ever been to the Isle of Man?

Yes,I had a few days there last year. Very quiet area. It took about two hours fifteen minutes by ferry from Liverpool. They have a breed of cat on the island called the Manx Cat , it has a very short tail.

Welcome to a great forum. My daughter will be going to England next summer with a school group called People to People. I'm already nervous of her going so far away but it will be a great experience for her.

Joy, tell us more! How many eggs did you get? What breed? What kind of an incubater do you have? Have you raised chickens before? What kind of coop are you planning?

Personally, I'd like to know if you have a dog and are concerned about how the dog will do with the chickens?

I have six silkies who are at day five in their develpoment. I have a Corti 25 semi auto incubator, the cheapest I could find was 116 dollars!I also have a very old sweet natured dog. I live in Bury very near Rochdale and approximately seven miles from city centre Manchester. Do you know where your mum and dad met?There was an American army base near Warrington . I remember my mum saying she went to a few dances. It only takes an hour in the car to get to Wales also from here.

I got my hens as adults and my 12yo dog didn't bother them at all. He passed last May and in early July I brought home the year old female. She killed one hen the first day. Now I don't let the chickens out unless I am home or I know the dog won't be out without me.

Are you going to get a new dog when this one passes on? Are you concerned about how a dog and the chickens will do?
