Yes, quite colorful! I started out with just New Hampshire Reds and Barred Plymouth Rocks, but my original flock was decimated by some stray dogs (that have now been eliminated); when I decided to get more chicks from a hatchery, I ordered many different breeds that I hadn't seen before.

Thanks, KikisGirls. The info was very much appreciated. I never realized that chicken farmers used to cut back on feed to force a molt. My flock would never let me get away with that---I think they'd peck down the door to get to the feed!Welcome to Backyardchickens.com aka BYC!
