New to the 'game' and cannot determine sex of my Ancona

This is my first post. I live in Adelaide, South Australia. Recently a chook flew into my backyard and a week later 'it's' still here. I have worked out (s)/he is an Ancona but as to a girl or our next roast dinner, I do not know. I yearn to have some chooks; fate delivered 'Maddie' to me but if she is a he, alas, I cannot have him. This is suburbia. Any guidance greatly appreciated.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. We definitely need to see a closer pic of your Ancona for determining its gender accurately. Also, it would help to know the age of the bird. Sorry the picture is so tiny and indistinct it's like trying to play "where's Waldo." Please post a clear close up of the front view showing comb, and side standing view so we can check for other gender features. How old is she/he.

Thanks for all your comments - I like the camaraderie. I was able to get within a metre of 'it' this morning. Very timid. Found foraging in the garden two weeks ago - flew up onto the neighbours shed and sleeps up in a shrub 2 ms off the ground at night. I've got it coming to the sound of my voice and the food bowl (flew down from the shrub one morning) and can I stand a metre away while eating. Happy to continue taking photos - will use a camera instead of phone if need be to get as many close ups as possible.

Definitely an Ancona pullet. You should gets loads of white eggs from her. )
