Being a new chicken Momma, I have questions!!
We just brought our coop home..will clean and paint it and then make sure the environment is safe from critters.... the plan is to home 3-4 hens for fresh eggs for the hubby and myself....
We live in East TN and we get really cold...like snow cold in the winter...and humid warm in the summer....
First Question...of many...I am sure....
.....what breed if hen am I looking to get??? I know they will need to be hardy...and we will be able to heat it if possible...electricity is near coop area....
Looking forward to learning!!!

and a warm welcome to Backyard Chickens! It's great to have you here with us and I hope you'll enjoy this site as much as we all do! Barred rocks, Australorps, and Orpingtons are pretty good layers and are cold hardy as well.
