Being a new chicken Momma, I have questions!!
We just brought our coop home..will clean and paint it and then make sure the environment is safe from critters.... the plan is to home 3-4 hens for fresh eggs for the hubby and myself....

We live in East TN and we get really cold...like snow cold in the winter...and humid warm in the summer....

First Question...of many...I am sure....
.....what breed if hen am I looking to get??? I know they will need to be hardy...and we will be able to heat it if possible...electricity is near coop area....

Looking forward to learning!!!

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
I'm a big fan of white leghorns. They are great layers, sassy and did really well in our NY winter and hot summer.
You don't need to add heat to your coop. You need to keep it well ventilated and DRY.
