We just brought home 4 10 week old longhorn chickens and Tractor Supply sold my husband crack corn to feed them. We know there should be more protein and other nutrients they need. Any help or advice would be great.

We do plan on having them free range on our property, we own 8.5 acres so they'll have plenty of room to roam. We are so looking forward to these additions to our little family. My husband told me our 2 year old loves them already and when they were placed in the coop he told them that they were home now.

At that age they should still be on chick starter until they are around 18 weeks, I wouldn't give them any more corn they will probably have a hard time digesting it the chick food has vitamins they need as they grow.

Thanks, my husband luckily was able to get back to Tractor Supply and got a starter feed for them. They finally came out of the coop. The LO loves playing with them and doesn't want to take a nap.

Its my understanding you can put them on a Flock Raiser formula after you finish that bag of feed..check this out for yourself..it was recommended to me starter is for chicks - then flock raiser can be feed until laying and if you choose you can give the adult feed (laying pellets)when they are ready to lay. hope this helps do not want to confuse anyone....G

Look into Apple cider vinegar in there water. There is some good advice here on b.y.c. I wont tell you how much. You'll find it. And be careful, these little guys are addictive.

Funny you say that...we have tons of it at home because my husband uses in almost everything due to a recent change in diet he had to make. I will definitely look in to that. H
