New to the group advice needed

We just bought a house on a little over an acre in rural georgia. I was thinking of converting a shed on the back of the property into a chicken coop and getting about six hens. Any advice is much appreciated.

The floor is wood and the structure is metal. Currently is falling down but we will be fixing it up. Planning on getting a heat lamp for them with a thermostat control.
