New to the group and chickens

Brand new chicken raiser here. Got our first chicks almost 5 weeks ago. Bought several more over the next couple of weeks. We have a total of 12 right now and we're getting one more next month. Hoping to have all hens. That's the goal. We just want egg layers. All of our chickens are different breeds, except three Brahmas. The goal was to have docile chickens with a variety of egg colors. But at this point I'm just hoping they all live. I read so many horror stories.
Hoping to get a lot of info, tips, advice and knowledge out of this group.
 
Welcome to BYC! Is there a reason for adding a single chick? That will likely be terrifying and traumatic for the single. It will probably continue to be alone within the flock for life. I urge you to add at least two more together.
If you are adding a very docile or crested breed, please give it even more thought.
