Hey there! Glad to see there are ways for like-minded folks to share their knowledge about chickens here.
We live in Maine and have a small flock (5 old girls) of various breeds and we have had chickens around us for about 20 years now. We have learned by sad experience that our yard is apparently the hunting ground for several predators, so we have to keep our girls in their large coop/run most of the time. We have recently expanded with 25 new gals (Australorp, Golden Laced Wyandotte, Red Star, Buff Orpington, Barred Rock and a “mystery” chick that we think is an Araucana rooster by the looks of his comb and green legs... They are about 6 weeks old now, and are doing fine, with the exception of one Black Australop. I have a question about her but will post in a different forum. Anyway, Hello!
