Hi Everyone,

My husband and I became chicken owners in May. We have 4 Amerucana (spelling?) chickens. We got them when they were 3 months old... they're almost 7 months now. I found backyard chickens by just googling chickens :) Wanted to find out more information on Chickens on how to raise them and what not since we're new!

We have a 4 year old German Shepherd who lets just say the chickens HATE!!! Bless him, he just wants to play with them. They have finally started to recognize myself and my husband when we come down to the coop. Just wanted to introduce myself!
 
Hello wburnette86. Welcome to BYC! There is tons of info here and very good people to help you on your journey as a new chicken owner. :)

If you want to get the most out of BYC, I suggest you do the following:
  • For general education, spend some time browsing the Articles link above and possibly the Learning Center. You will find excellent information for both newbies and long-time chicken owners there.
  • When you have specific questions, most of the time a quick search will come up with the answers.
  • If you don't find anything useful that way, post your question in an appropriate sub-forum. People here are very helpful and will answer your question even it has been asked 100 times before.

Welcome glad you decided to join is we have a 5 year Black Lab, a 15 year old GSD like you and a 14 month old Great Pyrenees known as our crazy white girl... Ameracauna have a few different spelling but as long as they are and not Easter Egger being called the other.... at least to purist's :lau We are just pleased you have joined us
