Hello all. Thank you for the add.
I’m a new chicken mom to 7 14 week old Cochin/Buff Orpington crosses and 2 Blue Splash Silkies. One of my babies is a special needs chook with a beak deformity not cross beak. Actually she has a top beak shaped like a parrot beak and elongated and wider bottom beak.
Because of this I have done A LOT of research and found a few great Facebook groups and one particularly fabulous one. I received much advice and encouragement on all of them.
But I am wondering if anyone else has a chick like mine. I have found very little actually no information on this type of deformity which is what brought me to this group in hopes of finding others like mine.
I’m looking forward to learning while I’m here and offering any help to others that I can.

This is Buffy. My special girl.
She is hand feed to full crop twice daily, just started tiny amounts of beak filing and daily weight. Has deep dish feed and water at all times and supplementary mash hand feeding twice daily. She is also a VERY independent little lady.

Welcome to BYC Sam. Buffy is beautiful! I have seen a thread for cross beak chickens but, not any (yet) for beaks like hers. As long as she gets enough to eat and you don't mind helping her out, I don't see any problem with her.
