Hello, my name is Angela and I’m still fairly new to the chicken world. I have 10 chickens (6 of them are just 10 weeks old).
I’m loving watching these ladies forage around the yard and have little chit chat sessions with each other.
I do have a naughty rooster though… he is a silkie that my daughter raised in her class. We had a friend look after him for a little less than a year as we built our new house in an area that allows roosters.
He is a silkie and he charges us constantly. We have tried multiple times daily to pick him and give him love and cuddles but as soon as we put him down he turns around and charges us again … 🙄

Congratulations on getting chickens! People who don't have any often don't realize that while eggs are great, the entertainment value is phenomenal.

Sorry about the rooster. Don't give up hope yet. I have a Cochin Bantam, who grew up here, was fairly pleasant for his first year, became a total jerk this year and has spent a good deal of time in "chicken jail" because he wants to charge me every chance he gets.

I've tried everything I've seen suggested on BYC -- short of culling him.

Yesterday, for the first time in WEEKS, I was able to walk around the yard without being attacked. There were a couple of times he stopped and gave me "the look," but that was all.

Welcome to BYC, Angela. You have some lovely girls.
