Hello My name is Thomas and I am New to the whole poultry world and learning as I go. my goal is to have an enterprise of a small farm offering local market garden, eggs, and broilers. So this spring i have started getting a flock together. it was suppose to be only 5 for our family. but then family and Friends said they wanted to buy egg's from us. so it turned into so far we have 32 in our flock with 30 more coming. I am also starting my gardening skills as well and making a small homestead, so if anyone has any good ideas, or advise I am all Ears..
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Yes, begining of this year
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 32
(3) What breeds do you have? Various, RIR, Legghorn, Dark Cornish, Jersey Giant/Blue Maran Mix. Wayendottes Silver and golden. speckeled Sussexx. comets, Etc.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? word of mouth
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Auto mechanic, fishing, kayaking.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. We are a family of 6 who have two dogs, and a giant Rabbit. and I believe we have adopted the neighbors Cats as they are always over. I have an Engineering background and love what i Do. but would like to be self sustained and maybe creat a nice little retirement setting for when it is time to retire in 30 yrs. lol
